When I build vessels it's important to me to keep the freshness of the clay throughout every stage of it's life. I want the textures to stay alive from the moment I touch it to when I pull it out of the kiln. Building fast and wet, showing quick attachments, and leaving finger prints are some of the ways I achieve this. I love the rich, red clay body of Fat Red. I used this clay for every piece and tried to only enhance it's original color with sprayed slips and shino glazes. The exploration of this process resulted in slab built and wheel thrown elements combined to create groupings of vessels.
